Discount Camping Gear

There’s nothing I like more than summer time and getting out to go camping with friends or family.  Relaxing under the calm blue sky during the day or laying back and gazing at the stars at night.. there’s really nothing it.

The major issue for most is either getting started or replacing old gear that’s either worn out or broken from years of use.  Discount camping gear is the key to affordable getaways, but where do you look?  Here are some tips:

Sales!  Keep an eye open for fliers and newspapers that advertise big sales events at local camping and outdoor stores.  Most stores will throw a few big sales events each year to attract consumers into their showrooms.  The trick for you is to buy only what you need.  Many stores will advertise great prices on a few items but hope you will pick up a few other items at full price while you’re there.  If you’ve got the willpower, you can save a ton of cash.

Internet!  The internet is a great way to find huge discount savings on all your camping needs.  Some major stores offer better prices online and if you’re lucky, they’ll also offer cheap or free shipping if you order from their website.  Other websites offer great prices because they don’t have a store front and don’t have the major overhead that big stores do.  Most of them don’t even carry stock, everything is shipped directly from the manufacturer to you.  This website has a number of Google links that will direct you to related websites that may offer amazing deals and more information.

End of Season!  One of the best times of the year to buy discount camping gear is at the end of the season.  Most camping stores don’t want to carry inventory over the winter season so they price their stuff to go quickly.  If you’re lucky enough to get there first, you’ll have amazing deals.  Keep an eye on window signs at the stores and advertisements in the newspaper.  Most of the big sales will be advertised weeks in advance.

Beginning of Season!  Almost as good as the end of the season sales are the beginning of the season sales.  Stores that primarily carry camping equipment will have had less business throughout the winter season and they’ll be eager to have a big start of the season.. this means big sales.  Keep an eye open for signs in their windows, advertisements in newspapers, or check out their website.

Going Out Of Business!  Times are tough and it’s horrible to see so many businesses shut down but there’s great saves for consumers when they do.  Items can go for 50-80% off!  Newspapers usually advertise businesses closing so keep your eyes open.

Lastly, subscribe to newsletters from your favorite camping store.  In their newsletters they will tell you about any sales they are having and they are usually worth while to read.  Good luck shopping for discount camping gear!
